Summer Movie Night at the GORODOK Gallery: “Casablanca”

We end August with a new movie night.

We invite you to see “Casablanca” (1942) on the big screen!

We are preparing for you:

  • A unique speaker’s commentary on the making of the film, the characters, music, costumes, directors, awards, and more;
  • A bar with cocktails;
  • Viewing of the film in the company of the same film lovers;

Screening date:
August 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The bar will be open from 6:30 p.m.

Movie plot:

After leaving his homeland, american Rick Blaine, owner of a gambling club in Casablanca, accidentally meets his beloved Ilsa, who left him several years ago. This time she has come to town with her now-husband, anti-fascist resistance fighter Victor Laszlo.

Rick and Ilsa’s story goes back a long time; they are bound by love and memories of their bygone happiness. But today the Germans are on Ilsa and Victor’s trail and the girl tries to beg her former lover to give up important documents belonging to him that would allow Victor to escape from Casablanca to continue his struggle. But the meeting of the old lovers stirs memories and casts doubts on the correctness of the choices already made. What will end and where will the triangle of love, a sense of duty and what choice will the characters make?

We’ll find out at a movie night on August 27th!

Starring Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart.

The film won three Oscars: Best Director, Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay. It is also included in the list of “culturally and historically significant” and “100 of the world’s most outstanding films”.
